SS 2017 My Generation
For this collection Ellen Pedersen has found inspiration in Jamel Shabazz New York boys in 1980s and in Mondrian art. The young boys, who Jamel Shabazz captured so nice are all posing for the camera, hanging out in their short shorts and in general having a good time.
Ellen Pedersen wants to create a collection, which is light, fun and a bit looser.
Ellen Pedersen has used Mondrian art to create in lines and details in the clothes. She has been working with digital print and developed a print, which is used for turtlenecks, t-shirts and lining for the jackets. The straight lines from Mondrian have been used for pattern cutting technique and the combination of materials like sweat with rib, cotton with rib lines, fake fur with napa leather.
The shapes in the collection come from the Shabazz boys, who all are wearing short shorts and big outerwear. Even though they have this 80s hip-hop vibe over them they still look very elegant with polos and shirts, which is very important for Ellen Pedersen aesthetic.
As Jamel Shabazz captured the youth in 1980s the importance of logo and labels were growing. The ss17 collection is therefore having more garments with ELLEN PEDERSEN LOGO.
Pedersen has created a massive puffer with diagonal lines with elastic in them, which create volume and a feeling of crease, which is part of her DNA. Also the collection is having a quilted vest with lines inspired from Mondrian.
Ellen always looks back to her muse and therefore the British subculture – the MODS. This fine boy has a longing for beautiful clothes, very specific and with a touch of a dark side. Therefore the collection is having a light dark blue parkacoat with lining of fake fur, stormflap CB, elastic crease in the sleeves and a zip CB in the hood. Polos with pattern cutting details, shirts with topstitch, short wool blazer with elastic crease in the sleeves, pleat CB and big workwear pocket at front.
The colours in the collection are dark blue, grey, black, white, crème and light purple. Ellen Pedersen has got material from Italian mills like Luxery Jersey, Olmetex Spa. And Cotton Trend. The materials are nylon, fake fur, napa leather, sweat, rib, jersey, some light wools and denim in blue and white!
Ellen Pedersen continued working closely together with stylist Oliver Fussing, photographer Marco Van Rijt and model agency Mate Management/Benjamin Arno.
